Soundcraft Vi3000 Stageboxes

By | December 22, 2014

Although the Soundcraft Vi3000 Digital Live Sound Console comes with a great amount of inputs and outputs, sometimes you need more. Some extra I/Os to really get the job done. That’s where the Soundcraft Stageboxes come in! Muzeek World now has three types of Soundcraft Stageboxes with multiple versions and configurations.

First up is the Vi Stagebox. This is the largest of the three types of stageboxes that stands at 9U rack mount space. There are two versions of this stagebox: the first is a Cat 5 version and the second features Optical MADI cables. The Vi Stagebox has 64 mic/line inputs and 32 analog line outputs. It offers features like mic/line amp gain and 48V phantom power, in addition to a 100Hz low-cut filter before the A/D converters. All of these features can be controlled remotely from the digital mixing console connected to the Vi Stagebox. The standard configuration is 64 x 32, but we can help you reconfigure one of these models with different parts or alternative cards. Speaking of cards, a number of expansions are available for this stagebox. AES/EBU, CobraNet, Ethersound, Aviom A-Net 16, Blu Link and Dante are all available through optional expansion cards, as well as transformer-balanced options for the mic input cards.

The second type of stagebox Muzeek World carries that’s compatible with the Soundcraft Vi3000 Digital Live Sound Console is the Compact Stagebox. This offers a multitude of I/O connections in a modest 4U of rack mount space. The standard configuration of this stagebox is 32 mic/line inputs, 16 line outputs and two expansion slots for standard Vi Local Rack I/0 cards. The D21m option cards allow the Compact Stagebox to connect with digital formats that include CobraNet, Aviom A-Net 16, Ethersound, ADAT, RockNet, Blu Link and Dante. The expansion slots can also be fitted with a MADI recording interface.

There are four different versions of the Soundcraft Compact Stagebox: one version that uses Optical MADI fiber cable and three that use Cat 5 cable. The Compact Stagebox Optical Version has redundant MADI cable capability, much like the larger Vi6 Stagebox that Soundcraft produces. The Optical Version is 32 in x 8 analog out x 8 digital. The three Cat 5 Versions are 32 in x 8 analog out x 8 digital, 32 in x 16 analog out and 48 in x 0 analog out, respectively.

The third and final Soundcraft stagebox we offer is the Mini Stagebox. This is the most cost-effective option offered out of the three featured expansions. There are two versions of the Mini Stagebox: the Mini Stagebox 32 and the Mini Stagebox 16. Version 32 takes up 3U of rack mount space and gives users 32 analog inputs and 8 analog line outputs with four pairs of AES outputs for a grand total I/O capacity of 32 inputs and 16 outputs. The Stagebox 16 model takes up a mere 2U of rack mount space and provides 16 analog inputs and 8 line outputs. Both of these versions connect with any of the Soundcraft Si Expression, Si Compact, Si Performer, Si Series and Vi Series consoles through a MADI HD card fitted to the option card slot.

The microphone preamplifiers inside both versions of the Soundcraft Mini Stagebox are the same preamps found inside the Compact Stagebox. Version 16 has a single-ended Cat 5 MADI connection, while Version 32 has dual Cat 5 connections to provide signal redundancy.

All three of these Soundcraft Stageboxes are capable and efficient. Check out the links above and see which of the three fit your needs!
